Summary: | The Candesartan having very poor absolute bioavailability i.e 15% to 40%.6-10 For prolonging the gastric residence time and enhancing the bioavailability of drug there are many approaches adopted such as, floating drug delivery system, polymer bioadhesive system, modified shape system, and other delayed gastric emptying device.11 The floating drug delivery system also called as the dynamically controlled system that are lower density system that having sufficient buoyancy to float over the gastric content and remain buoyant in the stomach without affecting the gastric emptying rate for prolonged period of time. [...]the gastric retention time increases along with a better control of fluctuation in plasma drug concentration. [...]the floating drug delivery system was design to deliver the drug for prolonged period of time to improve its bioavailability with minimum side effects.12-14 In present study, the natural hydrophillic polymer used such as xanthan gum and guar gum as carrier for controlled release drug delivery. Candesartan cilexetil (drug), Xanthan gum, Guar gum, Microcrystalline cellulose, Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC K15), Sodium bicarbonate, Citric acid, Lactose, Magnesium stearate, Talc were obtained from pharmaceutics laboratory of RCPSR kohka kurud Road Bhilai.
