Summary:Poly(vinylidenedifluoride-trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] is a piezoelectric copolymer which is used as transducer material for different applications. The solution of P(VDF-TrFE) (70 %VDF 30% TrFE) was prepared by dissolving P(VDF-TrFE) in DMF. By using a cast method, sheets were cast and annealed at a specific temperature. The nanoparticles of the PZT and ZnO were synthesized using sol-gel method and precipitation method respectively. These are used as filler materials (5 wt%) in the P(VDF-TrFE) matrix for making nanocomposites. Corona Poling method is used to create polarization in the sheets for studying poling effect. XRD and DSC results are used for studying the crystallinity and thermal properties of the sheets. The d33 values were measured using a piezometer to study the piezoelectric property of the prepared P(VDF-TrFE) and composite sheets. The effect of PZT and ZnO nanoparticles on the piezoelectric properties of P(VDF-TrFE) has been studied.
