Summary:Thanks to INDEX, a joint project of Medienwerkstatt Wien and sixpackfilm, there are now over twenty DVD releases available, covering contemporary Austrian experimental film and video art, from classics such as Kurt Kren to young artists like Kerstin Cmelka and Michaela Pöschl. The Austrian scene of art film and video is still dynamic and vital, and is now duly anthologized and analysed (e.g. in Alexander Horwath et al., Avantgardefilm Österreich. 1950 bis heute (1996)), and this historiography - and education - gains a lot from the ambitious production and distribution under the INDEX label. The black-and-white film shows how she applies a cortisone salve upon her body to overcome the itchings of eczema.
