Summary: | Neither Peace Mission (Wenner, 2008) about Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima, a super-producer in the Nigerian film industry, nor Sin Tregua (Lozando, 2008), which chronicled a television journalist in Colombia, did justice to its fascinating subjects and both these titles smacked of self-importance. Last Stop 174 (Barreto, 2008), is a fictional account of the life of Sandro do Nascimento, the young man who became infamous for holding a busload of passengers hostage in June 2000. Méndez spoke about his experiences in his teenage years, which provided the inspiration for the film, 'My parents are middle class, and I am an only child. Because he does not 'belong' to the upper class, Méndez feels that he is in a position to satirize them. |
