Summary: | Arab professionals that have studied in the US and other western nations come home to impart their knowledge of conflict resolution. Since the principles are originally foreign, it is very likely that their testimonies are met with doubt and are usually rejected. However, further understanding of the Islamic way of thinking reveals that the Arab way of resolving conflicts differs significantly from the western perception, in the sense that Moslems resort to rituals such as the sulh and the musalaha. These conflicts are effective ways of avoiding further conflicts and bloodshed. Westerners consider it just that the offending party be punished or sanctioned to appease the offended. |
