Description
Summary:In an interview, Ian Bremmer, author of The J-Curve: A New Way to Understand Why Nations Rise and Fall, talked about the crucial facets of the US-Iran relationship. When they say that Iran reflects the largest risk for markets this year, "large" has three dimensions: the likelihood the risk will occur, the impact on global markets if it hits and the immediacy of that risk. In all three of those dimensions, Iran is head and shoulders above everything else. Iran is not North Korea. The Iranian political environment remains considerably more diverse than those in strongly authoritarian and totalitarian governments around the world. He do not thinks the Saudis want a regional war, and as long as the US is showing them that it is prepared to do the heavy lifting. But US willingness to engage in heavy lifting is limited. Many investors want to be last off the bus -- they want to make money until the last day they can.
