Description
Summary:Americanization may be defined as the gradual adoption of American patterns of production, consumer behavior and ways of life prevalent in the US. In the source of those transformations was a set of values and beliefs largely significant in the US: a fundamental and positive role given to the economy, a belief in the capacity of the competition, a strong individualism, a deliberate option in favor of social links based on the contract and the market. Americanization collided with a certain number of oppositions and resistances. It took very diverse forms, both macro- and micro-economic, in Europe, Latin America or Far East Asia. But even in the most Americanized countries, adaptation comes before pure and simple adoption, favoring thus hybridization and frequent cross-fertilization.
