Summary: | Barbara DesRosiers and Melissa Trevvett provided background information regarding their ongoing projects to develop print archives to preserve legacy materials and to serve as a backup to electronic journals. The presenters discussed projects currently underway and outlined the factors and issues to be considered when planning to form or join a print archive consortium. They also provided details about their current partnerships with JSTOR, Michigan State University, the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and Yale University including: the components of the projects, funding and staffing issues, and coordination and communication among the partners. The presenters stressed the importance of legal agreements among partners as a way to minimize risk and provide better management of the program. |
