Summary: | The purpose of this work is the characterization and comparison of two brilliant polyurethane coating systems with combined analytical and physico‐chemical methods such as dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and swelling tests. Based on correlations between the amount of hardener and the change in coating properties, information's for the improvement of the coating stability in spite of repeated contact with ambient fluids such as water or ethanol are derived. The main information's for the improvement of the investigated coating system are the introduction of more hard segments into the binder system and the increase of the cross‐linking density until the saturation value for glass transition temperature (Tg) is reached. |
