Description
Summary:Starting with conceptual differences between chronological age and subjective age tendency, this paper compares the predictive validity of these two constructs on fashion involvement. Results indicate that the gap between chronological age and subjective age increases with aging. The tendancy to perceive oneself as younger is a better predictor of fashion involvement than chronological age among male seniors. Concerning 50 plus women, an additive effect of the two age variables is also shown. In conclusion, the paper discusses research avenues and managerial implication in terms of market segmentation.
