Summary:—Phase relations in the Li 2 MoO 4 –ZnMoO 4 –Sc 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 system have been studied by X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis. We have synthesized the ternary molybdate LiZnSc(MoO 4 ) 3 , which crystallizes in triclinic symmetry (sp. gr. ). A continuous series of solid solutions with an orthorhombic structure (sp. gr. Pnma ) has been shown to exist on the Li 2 Zn 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 –Li 3 Sc(MoO 4 ) 3 join. A luminescent material based on the ternary molybdate doped with europium ions, LiZnSc(MoO 4 ) 3 :Eu 3+ , has been prepared by solid-state reaction, and its photoluminescence (excitation and emission) spectra have been measured.
