Description
Summary:Using goal setting theory, this study explores the process of student growth from service to leadership roles in the hospitality industry. Using a qualitative approach, we look at the longitudinal process in three stages: (a) the beginning stage - prior to becoming a supervisor, (b) the learning stage - early supervising experience, and (c) the maturing stage - actively supervising. Open-ended questionnaires were completed by student supervisors from a teaching café at a university in China. Responses were coded and analyzed. The results illuminated valuable information about students’ experiences and feelings during the three stages.
