Summary: | This study reports the results of partial heating and cooling of the porous annulus in such a way that the top of the inner surface is maintained at isothermal hot temperature and outer radius is cooled to lower temperature. The two horizontal surfaces that is upper surface and lower surface of annulus are adiabatic. The impacts of various physical and geometrical parameters are analyzed with special emphasis to thermal conductivity ratio of inner and outer solid. The equations governing the physical phenomenon in present case are solved numerically using finite element method. It is found that the thermal behavior of porous annulus is different from all other cases being reported in the literature. |
