Summary: | The paper deals with the applications of the modern computational methods to address global flood forecasting and warning system. This will be built on the basis of the mathematical computer model of the selected area, where the computer model will simulate the processes associated with rainfall runoff. For selected area is simulated runoff water from the area by river. Drain water from the area is secured using flow through sewer network. For excessive rainfall event diluted water from sewer network is outlet to the river, which can cause elevated levels of water flow in river and cause local flooding. Therefore, the scope of the project is to investigate the interaction of sewage network and water flow to the extent of flooding in the assessed area. Behavior of water flow in river and in the sewer network is simulated using two mathematical computer models. Mathematical computer model MIKE 21 FM is used to simulate runoff processes in the river in a 2D environment and mathematical computer model MIKE URBAN-MOUSE is used to simulate runoff processes in the sewer network. Both models are interconnected, and the results of one serve as input boundary conditions for the second model and vice versa. Such interconnection between the two models is possible to perform the simulation of rainfall-runoff conditions of the area. An important element in the construction of a mathematical model is calibrated on the basis of measured values that were collected during the measuring campaign. For calibration of rainfallrunoff conditions in the stream are the values of the water level in the river channel and for calibration of rainfall-runoff conditions in the sewer network are the values of the water level in the collecting system and flow measuring for campaign period. Along with these values, it is important to collect information on the occurrence of rainfall in the study area during the measuring campaign. This is done using rain gauges, which record information about yield reductions. Based on these data, compiled mathematical model is calibrated so as accurately simulate the actual condition. Thus prepared model is used to simulate different load conditions, their evaluation and to propose measures that eliminate flood damage. This leads to the protection of property, land, public health and promoting the development of an urbanized area. |
