El objetivo de este trabajo es efectuar una revisión de la relación entre el complejo ira/hostilidad y la enfermedad coronaria (EC); proveer una descripción teórico-clínica de síntomas y signos identificables, que brinden herramientas para mejorar el diagnóstico en la práctica médica y psicológica. Comenzaremos considerando la hostilidad y luego la ira desde una perspectiva biopsicológica, incluyendo algunas consideraciones sobre la agresión. Dada la asociación entre hostilidad, ira y agresión, particularmentedad, con el curso y el pronóstico de la EC, sería conveniente incorporar a la atención clínica la detección de los ataques de ira, agresión, y rasgos de hostilidad.
