Summary: | This study analices the correlation between the educational environment and mental health in students of first year at university. 576 students were surveyed. Three three mental health problems were evaluated: anxious and depressive synthoms and problematical consuming of alcohol, and three strenghts: self-esteem, life satisfaction and opstimism. In adition, the environmental education was evaluated. The results showed that mental health was associated with this. Specifically, student's perception about the participation of their equals in educative process is the one that's most associated with a positive mental health. The results emphasize that the contextual variables are related to mental health and they highlight the meddling that universities have and can provide the well being in their students. Este estudio analiza la relación entre clima educativo y salud mental en alumnos universitarios de primer año. 576 alumnos fueron encuestados, evaluándose tres problemas de salud mental: sintomatología ansiosa, sintomatología depresiva y consumo problemático de alcohol, y tres fortalezas: autoestima, satisfacción vital y optimismo. Adicionalmente, se evaluó el clima educativo. Los resultados muestran que aunque la salud mental se asocia al clima educativo, la percepción que se tiene de los pares en el proceso educativo es la dimensión del clima que más se asocia a una salud mental positiva. Los resultados obtenidos resaltan que las variables contextuales se asocian a la salud mental y destacan la injerencia que las universidades tienen y pueden tener en el bienestar de su estudiantado. |
