Summary:Mutual funds have undergone considerable quantitative as well as qualitative changes, since 1960 when they were introduced in India. The present study has been undertaken with the object of finding out the perception of the investors towards mutual funds and also analyse the investors preference and importance assigned to different attributes. The mutual funds have caught the fancy of Indian investors. This study attempts to monitor the mutual funds working and also the business connected with it in India with a perspective to enhance the investors' confidence in future. General perception has been that the mutual funds have cheated the common investor and disturbed their savings and plans. Regulatory framework and mechanism of quick detection of wrong doings of mutual funds followed by punishment is the need of the hour in the given situation for common interest of all.
