Summary:Work is one of the most important activities, not only for social integration and adequate family dynamics, but also for the psychological adjustment of individuals. Based on Arango’s model (2008), an analysis of the unified basic salary and its influence on the employment evolution of Ecuadorian families in the Sierra region was made. Statistical series of the Central Bank of Ecuador and the National Institute of Statistics and Census were used, among others.
