Description
Summary:The study took place at Stesen Janakuasa Sultan Mahmud, Kuala Berang, Terengganu where it is situated about 13 km away from nearest town, Kuala Berang. In order to enable development, detail study about the area are needed. Geological terrain mapping method are widely used to classify area that are prone to hazard (geological hazard) based on the evaluation of certain attributes. Generally, the method of the study includes obtaining digital topographic survey map and undergo investigation on site. Topographic survey map have been used as a base map for the production of thematic maps using ESRI ArcGIS ver. 10.3.1 which then used during fieldwork. All the information regarding geology and terrain will be plotted on the same base map. The production of digital map had been validated during boundary inspection. The overall study area will be classified into specific classes based on the condition of geology, slope gradient, slope facet and other slope attributes. The outcome of the result is the production of maps, namely, Slope Gradient Map, Terrain Component Map, Terrain Activity Map and Construction and Instability Map which can be used as guidelines for slope improvement and development of the area as well as it gives information on the condition and stability of the mapped area. Relationship between zoned area with geological factor and water flow can be discussed especially for those area in Class III and Class IV. Relatively geodynamic features are found in Class III and Class IV areas compared to Class I and Class II areas.
