Chromium (III) Catalyzed Selective Oxidation of Sulfides to Sulfoxides Using 30% H2O2

Chromium (III) is used as an efficient, recyclable catalyst for selective oxidation of sulfides. The reactions were carried out in 60% acetonitrile (v/v) using 30% H 2 O 2 . Chromium (III) forms complex with sulfides which is then oxidized by H 2 O 2 to form sulfoxides.
