Summary:The implementation and maintenance of a quality management system under ISO 9001, has been the concern of many business organizations, similar concern coexists in higher education institutions; in any of the cases it is sought to obtain a positive impact in the provision of products and / or services to the clients and interested parties, however doubt remains as to the effectiveness of said norm to achieve the intentions outlined with its implementation. In this article we expose the research methods and deductions associated with the projects: approach to the productive profile of the municipality of Ocaña Research Group (GIDSE) and the administrative academic management methods project for the organizational improvement of the Research Group (INGAP), from the Francisco de Paula University Santander Ocaña - Colombia. The objective was to analyze the impact of the benefits perceived by internal auditors and process leaders, derived from the implementation and subsequent certification of the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015. The results obtained show the benefits appreciated and the existing gaps in terms of productivity and competitiveness concepts that determine the impact from the implementation of the standard.
