Summary: | Looking for increased availability of production systems we have studied further possibilities for improvement, such as methods for disturbance analysis, robust manufacturing system design and organisational form of the enterprise for competence, motivation, flexibility and staff stability. Through field studies and practical examples we show that use of job specialisation, and better information availability, e.g. via operator terminals on the shop floor, considerably improve the total performance of manufacturing systems, and reduce equipment |
