Description
Summary:Mobile phones and other gadgets especially connected devices have become the most valuable device not only for people with career but also general public especially for updating social media. Due to heavy usage and the limited battery efficiency and life time, this work proposes an off-grid standalone box-type Solar Photovoltaic (PV) charging station (solar tree) with the rated capacity of 320Wp Monocrystalline module comes with 100AH lead-acid battery. The recorded Time of Charge (ToF) is based on rated current supplied to the load i.e 1A and 2A A maximum of 8 gadgets can be plug-in at any one time with a maximum charging time of 3 hours. This PV charging stations works 24 hours with the high battery capacity and solar PV controller in maintaining charging sequence. The actual performance of this charging system is measured for three continuous days in the month of February 2019 in Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia with 10 minutes data intervals. The results are further analyze based on the energy yield, capacity factor, and charging efficiency.
