Summary: | In this work, radiation manipulation capabiltites of patterned metasurfaces has been discussed. It has been shown that the radiation pattern can be modified as desired by using a metasurface patch, instead of a simple patch. The type of modification achived depends upon the type of pattern used. In this article a checkerboard type metasurface patch has been employed which generates four beam of radition as compared to a single beam in case of the conventional microstrip patch antenna (MPA). Specifically designed metasurfaces can not only facilitate the splitting of radiation into desired number of beams but also provide control over the orientation of the beams and direction of radiation by suppressing one particular lobe in favour of another. |
