Description
Summary:Recent attention to network forms of organizations (e.g. Powell, 1990; Nohria & Eccles, 1992; DeSanctis & Poole, 1997) suggests that organizations will need to become increasingly distributed, flexible and responsive to environmental and market changes. Characteristics of network forms emphasize multidisciplinary work arrangements linking people and activities across formal organizational boundaries, less clearly defined authority relations, and continuous, flexible and multi-directional communication patterns (DeSanctis & Poole, 1997).
