Summary:Structure of [Pt(η2-Ph2PN(CH3)PPh2}{η2-SeCH2C(CH2OH)2CH2Se}] [17]. [Display omitted] •Structure of cis-[Pt(η2-P2L)(SeL)2] and cis-[Pt(η2-P2L)(η2-Se2L)] complexes.•Cooperative effect between structural data.•Variety of metallocyclic ring. In this review are classified and analyzed the structural data of almost thirty monomeric platinum(II) coordination complexes with inner coordination spheres of Pt(η2-P2L)(SeL)2 and Pt(η2-P2L)(η2-Se2L). These complexes crystallized in three crystal systems: triclinic (3 examples), orthorhombic (5 examples) and monoclinic (16 examples). Distorted square planar environments about the Pt(II) atoms are build up by combination of homobidentate P,P-donor ligands with a pair of monodentate Se-donor ligands, or homobidentate P,P-with homobidentate Se,Se donor ligands. The chelating ligands create wide varieties of metallocycles. These structural data are compared and discussed with the complexes of an inner coordination spheres: Pt(η2-P2L)(XL)2 (X = O, N, CN, B, Cl, S, Br or I) and Pt(η2-P2L)(η2-X2L) (X = O, N or S).
