Description
Summary:If you are familiar with the opus (and WoO) numbers of Beethoven's pianoforte trios, the number Opus 63 will certainly catch your attention. The first edition was published in 1806 by Artaria & Co. in Vienna; a later edition of the score, edited by Liszt, was published in 1855, but the work fell into oblivion until 2003, when Raptus, an enterprising Dutch company, published both a performing edition of the score (RE 2068), and also produced the recording under discussion. Neither of the early versions-octet or quintet-is heard very often in performance, and recordings are scarce. [...]the recording of the trio version, along with the publication of the music, is most welcome.
