Summary: | The results of a study evaluating elk use of different types of modifications to barbed-wire fences are presented. During 21 test days at the 77 test crossings, 732 threads were broken and designs with the top wire attached to the second wire were used more than those crossings with a wood rail or wire at the unmodified height of 100 centimeters, and the use of PVC to encase the second wire did not affect elk use of the crossing. |
