Summary:We reviewed our hospital's chest pain center records over a 12-day period of cold temperatures and major snowfalls (total 61 cm) and identified 20 patients who were admitted with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), 5 of whom (all middle-aged and older men) were engaged in manual or automated snow removal. Four of the 5 patients were clearing their driveways during the early morning hours.
