Summary: | In Butlers Wharf, sandwiched between the Design Museum and the swish apartments of Cinnamon Wharf, two massive sculptural installation pieces dominated an entire floor of a deserted warehouse. These works by Norma Fletcher and Suzy Gregory used the space as a whole-- moving expansively across the hall of pillars in a way that challenged the inevitable division of the enormous floorspace into small, expensive apartments. Both the pieces were big-- in all senses of the word-- and coupled with a low and pulsing soundtrack, they transformed the warehouse space into something like a cross between the machine hall of a giant power station and an ancient temple sanctuary. |
