Spark Plasma Sintering of Magnesium Fluoride Nanopowders

The densification behavior of nanostructured MgF 2 ceramics in the spark plasma sintering process is studied. Nitrate synthesis is employed to produce fine magnesium fluoride powder. The high-purity and fine MgF 2 powder has 300–500 nm grains and shows high density (~99.8%) and transparency (~ 90%)...

Description
Summary:The densification behavior of nanostructured MgF 2 ceramics in the spark plasma sintering process is studied. Nitrate synthesis is employed to produce fine magnesium fluoride powder. The high-purity and fine MgF 2 powder has 300–500 nm grains and shows high density (~99.8%) and transparency (~ 90%) in the infrared range for samples 2.5 mm thick.
