Description
Summary:A simple and highly selective electrochemical method for the determination of catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ) was developed on carbon paste electrode modified with electropolymerized thin films of benzoguanamine by using cyclic voltammetry. The effects of pH, scan rate, and concentration were carried out electrochemically. The proposed sensor exhibit adsorption controlled process and good limit of detection for CC (2.55 μM) and HQ (3.84 μM) were found. The interference study demonstrates the modified electrode exhibits good selectivity and sensitivity. The analytical performance of this modified electrode has been evaluated for detection of CC and HQ in tap water sample as real sample. [Display omitted] •Electropolymerization of benzoguanamine on the surface carbon paste electrode by cyclic voltammetric technique•Modified electrode shows good electrocatalytic activity towards the determination of catechol and hydroquinone.•Exhibits good sensitivity, selectivity, lower detection limit and simultaneous determination.
