Summary:The Nolan Model contains 6 stages of data processing growth that most organizations go through: initiation, expansion, control, integration, data administration, and maturity. Nolan's Model is applied to a research firm's historical data processing growth. It is shown that Nolan's Model is a good descriptor of past data processing growth as the model relates to the research firm. However, the usefulness of the model as a predictor is brought into question.
