Summary: | One way to increase the efficiency of electron cooling is to increase the electron density in the beam reference frame. As a rule, with an increase in the energy of the cooled ion beam, they reduce its size; therefore, the electron current density can be increased by reducing the diameter of the electron beam and preserving its total current. This paper describes two versions of an electron gun for high-voltage electron cooling systems with flat and convex cathodes, in each of which the electron gun is capable of producing a beam with a diameter of up to 1 cm and a current about 1 A. |
