Characterization of magnetic symmetry and electric polarization of YCr0.5Fe0.5O3

Description
Summary:We investigate the magnetic structure and the electric properties of YCr0.5Fe0.5O3, which was earlier reported to feature ferroelectricity from nonequivalent spins due to the cation disorder. We find a centrosymmetric magnetic order at all temperatures below TN, which is incompatible with magnetically induced ferroelectricity. Our dielectric and pyroelectric studies also do not support intrinsic ferroelectricity in this system.
