Description
Summary:A war results, during which the brothers rape Goewin, and when Math learns of this, he punishes the two brothers by changing them into alternating-sex pairs of animals who must produce offspring in the course of three years, the first year with Gwydion as a stag and Gilvaethwy a hind, the second with Gwydion as a sow and Gilvaethwy a boar, and the third year with Gwydion as a wolf and Gilvaethwy a she-wolf, producing three sons who are turned to human shape and given the names Hyddwn, Hychdwn, and Bleiddwn, meaning "Deer," "Pig" and "Wolf" respectively, who become great warriors (Gruffydd 1928:14-17; Gantz 1976:104-06; Ford 1977:96-98).
