Description
Summary:THE NEXT DECADE WILL SEE AN OVERSUPPLY OF DOCTORATES AND A HIGH INCREASE IN GRADUATE STUDENTS ALL IN THE FACE OF DECREASING SOURCES OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT. THIS OVERSUPPLY WILL RESULT IN A BUYERS MARKET. THIS WILL ALSO CREATE SOME INTERNAL CHANGES FOR ACADEMIA SUCH AS 1, LESS EFFECTIVE PRESSURE FOR SALARIES, DECREASED MOBILITY OF FACULTY, LARGER NUMBER OF NEW DOCTORATES TEACHING UNDERGRADUATES AT LOW RATES OF PAY. FINANCIAL CRISIS HAS OCCURRED FROM LESS GOVERNMENTAL SUPPORT AND LOWER ENROLLMENTS OF NEW STUDENTS. HIGHER EDUCATION, ON THE FACULTY SIDE HAS NOT CHANGED - IT REMAINS THE SAME. FUTURE WILL SEE STUDENT DECISION ON COURSES AND PROGRAMS. FUTURE WILL SEE AN EROSION OF BARRIERS BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND SOCIETY. ALSO A RESTRUCTURE AT THE ADMINISTRATIVE LEVEL.
