Description
Summary:International sourcing has emerged as an integral part of firms' competitive advantage building. In spite of increasing management attention to international sourcing, the literature is predominately based on US research. Taking into account the impact of a firm's operational environment upon its sourcing strategies, the applicability of the existing knowledge outside the US is highly questionable. New insights are provided into the understanding of international sourcing from the unique perspective of Australia-located manufacturers. Intra-firm trade practice among Australian subsidiaries of multinationals is also investigated. While the study found distinctive international sourcing behaviors of Australia-located manufacturers, it also discovered a distinctive pattern of international sourcing practice.
