Summary: | Objectives This paper evokes numerous considerations on how to cater for patients with neuro-sexual disturbances following spinal injury. Setting: Reims and Garches University Hospital Centers. Conclusions: Marc Maury states that "the study of problems of conscience is morality in the making". The strength of the position of the physician should not be exploited. The patient is indeed free to opt for or to refuse a given treatment. This entails the concept of informed consent, which in turn requires the ability, on the part of the physician, to provide the right information, without transferring the skills or knowledge wholesale, so as to enable the patient to make an enlightened choice.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT] |
