Description
Summary:•The properties of saturated aqueous solutions (NH4)2Co(SO4)2·6H2O were studied.•The ACSH crystals with dimensions up to 30 × 45 × 60 mm3 were grown for the first time.•High perfection of ACSH crystals was proved by X-ray topography.•The thermal stability and transmission in the UV range of ACSH were studied.•The suitability of using ACSH crystals as UV filters was demonstrated. The dependence of solubility and density of saturated aqueous solutions (NH4)2Co(SO4)2·6H2O on the temperature has been measured. For the first time large ammonium-cobalt sulfate hexahydrate (ACSH) single crystals of optical quality have been grown. The real structure and optical properties of the grown crystals have been studied. Comparative TGA studies of ACSH and KCSH crystals have been carried out.
