Description
Summary:Conclusion: The results revealed promising wound healing potential of the plant Psidium guajava, compared to silver sulfadiazine used as the reference standard Keywords: wound healing activity, excision, incision, dead space, tensile strength, wet and dry tissue weight. Procedure: Male albino wistar rats weighing 180-200g were taken and anaesthetized with 1ml of ketamine hydrochloride (10mg/kg, i.p body weight) and the dorsal surface of the animal was shaved properly and a longitudinal paravertebral incision was done about 6cm long using surgical blade through skin and cutaneous tissue on the back. Procedure: Male rats weighing 180-200g was taken and anaesthetized with 1ml of Ketamine hydrochloride (10mg/kg i.p body weight) and the dorsal surface of the animal was shaved properly and an incision wound was created and implanting the sterilized cotton pellets of weight 10mg on the lumbar region on the dorsal surface of the rat. The granulation tissue was dried and weighed and the dried weight of the granulation tissue was noted. 2.7.Statistical Analysis: All the data will be expressed in the form Mean ± SEM and were analyzed by one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the post hoc scheffe's test using SPSS computer software version 10.
