Description
Summary:The review deals with the mechanisms of nitrate signaling covering its sensing by transceptors located in the plasma membrane, intracellular signal transduction, and multiplication by a cascade of intermediates as well as regulation of expression of target genes and transduction between the organs involving major phytohormones with consideration for spatial separateness of their biosyntheses in the whole plant. The contribution of signaling into C/N balance of the organism based on key reactions of carbohydrate and nitrogen metabolism are discussed.
