Description
Summary:The paper discusses the technology for producing bulk lightweight spherosilicate materials as an alternative to expanded vermiculite-based thermal insulation products. The technology is based on the idea of using granulated expanded polystyrene to create a core of silicate spheres coated with special liquid glass-based mixture and treated with carbon dioxide in the process of forming polystyrene-silicate mineralized granules to ensure quick hardening thereof. The paper also reviews a device and operation of the special equipment developed by the authors, such as a mixer for producing polystyrene-silicate mineralized granules and electric drum furnace for roasting spheres and subliming expanded polystyrene granules.
