Description
Summary:The current issue represents the first special issue on self-control in sport and exercise psychology in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. Although research on self-control within sport and exercise psychology is still in its infancy, studies showcased in this issue highlight the importance of self-control for sport and exercise performance and participation in physical activity. We recommend that future research should place emphasis on measuring psychological mediators or moderators alongside physiological or neurophysiological mechanisms to develop a better understanding of processes governing self-control in relation to physical activity behavior and sport and exercise performance.
