Ignition of Different Metamorphic Grade Coals by Free-Running Laser Pulses

We studied laser ignition (1064 nm, 120 µs) of coals of grades DG, G, Zh, and K. For all grades of coal, three successive ignition stages were found that were characterized by threshold radiation energy densities that have characteristic values for each grade of coal.
