Summary:Joining of dissimilar metals by conventional process is not feasible due to several factors like change in mechanical, thermal, chemical and physical properties. Friction welding is a solid state welding method that facilitates dissimilar metals for welding. Besides its vitality in weight reduction, zero requirement of flux and filler rods is certainly advantageous. This article presents a review focusing on various case studies on welding of dissimilar metals.
