Summary:ABSTRACT The objective of this paper is to investigate if the most recent left turn in Argentina can be considered a critical juncture; understood here as a period of significant change capable of perpetuating itself in time and space. In this sense, a process-tracing method underlies the institutionalist-historical analysis in which it is proposed to delineate the permissive, productive and reproductive conditions of the election of Néstor Kirchner in 2003. [...]it is concluded that this Argentine period of change is not limited to purely national factors, but it is related to a much more complex personalist subjectivity that lasts until today. Siendo así, "historical institutionalists make visible and understandable the overarching contexts and interacting processes that shape and reshape states, politics, and public policymaking" (Skocpol & Pierson 2002, pp. 694). En este sentido, los llamados procesos path dependent sintetizan la importancia mayoritaria que se debe prestar al orden en que ocurren los eventos históricos para que se desencadenen esos padrones particulares.
