Summary: | The objective is to determine the effects of strapping the tendo-Achilles (t-A) on soleus and gastrocnemius electromyographic activities and postural sway. A pre-test, post-test experimental design was used. Ten male university students (mean age 24 years) participated by voluntary consent. Data collection in the physiotherapy research laboratory at the University of Durban-Westville ensured that electromyographic signals were minimally contaminated. Soleus and gastrocnemius electromyographic activities were recorded using 8 mm silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCI) surface electrodes connected to the Biopac electromyographic (EMG) system. |
