Description
Summary:— The Mössbauer spectra of PbFe 0.5 Ta 0.5 O 3 samples prepared by mechanical activation of a mixture of PbO, Fe 2 O 3 , and Ta 2 O 5 with subsequent annealing at different temperatures T a have been investigated. The Mössbauer study showed that Fe 3+ ions in these samples can be either in the octahedral coordination or in the state with a coordination number equal to 5, which indicates the presence of oxygen vacancies in the samples. The magnetic-phase transition temperatures T M are found for all samples. The dependence of T M on T a is peaking in the vicinity of T a ≈ 700°C. The factors affecting the T M values of the mechanically activated PbFe 0.5 Ta 0.5 O 3 samples are discussed.
