Study of the Fe/γ-Al2O3 Catalytic System by Varying Atmosphere and Temperature

The catalytic Fe/γ-Al 2 O 3 system in air, CO, and H 2 atmospheres has been studied in the temperature range of 293–773 K. In the initial state, the system contains at least two Fe 3+ paramagnetic forms with close values of isomeric shift and different quadrupole splittings. In this system, iron is...

Description
Summary:The catalytic Fe/γ-Al 2 O 3 system in air, CO, and H 2 atmospheres has been studied in the temperature range of 293–773 K. In the initial state, the system contains at least two Fe 3+ paramagnetic forms with close values of isomeric shift and different quadrupole splittings. In this system, iron is reduced to the Fe 2+ state in an atmosphere of СО and Н 2 at 423–773 K. The latter state also exists in at least two forms. The processes occurring in the system and the nature of the found iron forms are discussed.
